Topical Problems of Fluid Mechanics 2020

dedicated to prof. Karel Kozel & prof. Jaromír Příhoda

Institute of Thermomechanics of the Czech Academy of Sciences
19.2. - 21.2. 2020

This year conference is dedicated to our distinguished colleagues, professor Karel Kozel and professor Jaromír Příhoda, on the occasion of their 80th birthday. Karel Kozel and Jaromír Příhoda are founders of this conference, long-time professors at the Czech Technical University in Prague and Technical university in Liberec, respectively, and members of the Institute of Thermomechanics of the Czech Academy of Sciences. This meeting will be a great opportunity for all of us to express our deep gratitude for their contribution to the field of fluid mechanics both professional and human.

Aim of the Conference

The aim of the conference is to discuss contemporary problems of fluid mechanics and to bring out latest results obtained in frame of grant projects supported by grant agencies in Czech Republic and abroad. The attendance of experts from academic institutes, technical universities and from other research institutions is assumed. Official language of the conference is English.

Scope of the Conference

Scope of the conference covers the whole field of fluid mechanics. Papers on experimental, numerical and theoretical investigations of problems in fluid mechanics are welcome. Also reports on new mathematical and/or experimental aproaches to solution of fluid flow problems are of great interest.

Papers should be prepared according to Instructions for Authors. Both doc and pdf format of the paper are accepted. Size of the uploaded file should not exceed 10MB. If the paper is written in Tex please upload also source file. Papers will be subject to review process so please note earlier dates of registration and paper submission.
Participants are encouraged to mark preferred type of presentation in the Registration Form. Time reserved for oral presentation is 20 minutes including a 5 minute discussion. Posters will be exhibited throughout the conference. Time for poster discussion will be scheduled in the programme.

Based on the quality of presented contributions, certain number of authors will be invited to submit the extended, full version of their work for publication in a regular issue of the journal of Flow, Turbulence and Combustion - an international journal published in association with ERCOFTAC. The selection of papers will be made after the conference, by the proceedings editors, in cooperation with the editor in chief of the journal. Such invited submissions, will be subject to a standard review and publishing process of the journal.

Important Dates

Participants should register before November 29, 2019. Papers should be uploaded through the web page no later than December 23, 2019. Paper submission has been shifted to earlier date due to review process.

Conference Fee

The registration fee covering organisation expenses, one issue of Proceedings, two lunches and small refreshment during the conference is 3700CZK or 150EUR (including 21% VAT). Members of ERCOFTAC may register at reduced cost 3000CZK or 120EUR and students may register at reduced cost which does not include book of proceedings 1700CZK or 70EUR or at cost including book of proceedings 2500CZK or 100EUR. The fee may be paid via bank account transfer before January 30, 2020 (please note details) or at increased price in cash at the registration desk in CZK only (3400CZK).

We shall appreciate if you would kindly inform your colleagues about this scientific meeting.

Looking forward to meeting you in Prague!
Yours sincerely,
